Sept. 25 Class

Today we completed our discussion of the Renaissance.  I told the story of the theft of the Mona Lisa and we looked at Michelangelo's Last Judgement.

We then discussed art from Northern Europe, particularly the Flemish painter Jan van Eyck.  He created intensely detailed works using oil paints which were newly developed at the time.  We looked a few pieces of work including the following:

We also discussed a test next week that will cover all this material.  The test will be on Wednesday, October 3.

Here is a review sheet of terms and artists that you should know for the test.

Tomorrow we begin to talk about colour and using water colour paints.

Homework: Read pages 394 - 406 in your textbook.
