Sept. 14 Class

Learning Goals: Understand the rules of perspective and effective use them to create a drawing with depth.

Today I gave more details on the perspective drawing assignment and the marking scheme.

Handout: Perspective Drawing Assignment

Then I discussed some examples of how the artsist in the Renaissance made excellent use of perspective in their works.

Here is a collection of the pieces I talked about.  You should understand how and why linear perspective was used in these works.

Masaccio.  The Tribute Money.  c. 1427
Masaccio. The Holy Trinity.  c. 1428
Leonardo da Vinci.  The Last Supper. c. 1498
Rapheal.  The School of Athens. 1511

I also took some time to discuss how perspective was used in other ways.  Have a look at these pieces and see if you can compare and contrast the differences in how perspective was used.

Readings: P. 361 - 375, P. 228
